Fresh Strawberry Cake with Strawberry Buttercream Recipe

I tested out this recipe this weekend in anticipation of my daughter's

1st birthday party. It was delicious! I'm planning to make this cake for her, and cupcakes for everyone else. Love this recipe, especially the frosting, so yummy.

Ingredients:

for the cake:

1. 1 1/2 cups cake flour
2. 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
3. 1 3/4 cups sugar
4. 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
5. 1 teaspoon salt
6. 1 cup butter, cold, cut into small cubes
7. 4 eggs
8. 3/4 cup milk
9. 3/4 cup strawberry puree (from about 1 1/2 cups strawberries)
10. 2 teaspoons vanilla

for the frosting:

• 2 sticks butter, softened
• pinch of salt
• 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 3 tablespoons strawberry puree (from about 1/2 cup strawberries)
